Questions to Ask a Property Recovery Company

A general list of questions that can help evaluate any company offering recovery assistance.

Questions about the company

Consider asking how the company identified your potential matter, whether it is registered to do business in the relevant state, and whether it can provide documentation supporting the existence of the funds in question.

Questions about the arrangement

Ask whether there is any upfront fee or retainer, how the company's fee is calculated, whether the fee is contingent on a successful recovery, and whether you are free to have any agreement reviewed by independent counsel before signing.

Questions about your rights

Ask whether you can cancel the agreement, what happens if no funds are recovered, and how your personal information will be used and protected.
